Dr. Blanca Amorós is a professional Academic counselor with more than 20 years of professional experience in the field. She received her doctoral degree from the UPR Rio Piedras Campus, in May of 2012. She is the Director of UPR MSC Students Counseling Center.
Dr. Amorós has been very successfully performing the responsibilities of Training Program Coordinator since October of 2008 to the present.
Among these responsibilities are:
Promotion and application process for the Summer Research Experience at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston
Promotion and application process for the Semester Research Assistantship Program
Coordination and evaluation of Seminars offered by visiting Faculty from MD Anderson and the UT Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, Houston
Coordination of “The Summer Research Program: Annual Undergraduate and Medical School Trainee Poster Presentations”
Logistics Coordination for Intensive Courses in Cancer, such as, core courses in Cancer Biology and Cancer Genetics, offered as a joint effort by faculty from collaborating institutions;
o UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, Houston
o University of Puerto Rico (UPR)
o UPR Comprehensive Cancer Center (UPRCCC)
Coordination of logistics and promotion for the Annual Recruitment Tour through the UPR Campuses
Trainees follow up and tracking
Thanks to her outstanding performance, initiative and energy it has been possible to conduct a continued follow up effort, reaching and maintaining contact with over a hundred (100) students who have participated in one or more of the different opportunities provided by the Program. She has also developed the evaluation system for the academic (education) activities sponsored by the Program.
