Condado Plaza Hotel

The main goal of this one-day local meeting is to start a forum in the Island for the discussion of the most current findings in the cancer field, highlighting the latest and most exciting discoveries in every area of cancer research, and to provide a unique opportunity for investigators from Puerto Rico to meet, network, and forge new scientific relations.

 

Axel Delgado (4th year Pre-Med students from UPR Mayaguez; particpated in the 2015 MD Anderson Summer Research Experience): won 3rd place in the undergraduate division for the poster presentation for his work with Ester Borras Flores and Eduardo Vilar, from the Department of Clinical Cancer Prevention, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. The title of the project is: "SNP Genotyping for the Validation of Second-HIT Mutations in APC"

 

Giancarlo Colón (4th year Biology student from UPR Río Piedras; participated in the 2015 MD Anderson Summer Research Experience): won 2nd place in the undergraduate division for the poster presentation for his work with Abhinav K. Jain y Michelle Barton, of Department of Epigenetics & Molecular Carcinogenesis, UT MD Anderson Cancer Center. The title of the project is: "Long non-coding RNA HOTAIRM1 destabilizes Estrogen Receptor alpha (ERα) to prevent proliferation of Breast Cancer derived cells"
